Nancy Martinez (born 26 August 1960 in Montreal, Quebec) is an international Dance-pop music artist who is primarily known for her 1986 hits "For Tonight" and "Move Out".
Nancy Martinez (birth name Nancy Catherine Julia Martinez) was born on August 26, 1960 in Rosemount, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She studied classical piano at a young age and singing during high school. Nancy worked at clubs and parties before becoming a background singer.

In 1982, Nancy released her first single, "Can't Believe" under the alias, "Nancy Martin." In the same year, Nancy released another single, "I'm Gonna Get Your Love" under another alias, "Jade." Both singles received moderate success in her hometown of Canada.
In 1983, Nancy released her first album, "Lay it Down" which featured her hit single, "So Excited." In the same year, Nancy was featured on the single, "Sunshine Reggae\La Vie En Rose" with her husband, Allen Harris.
In 1986, Nancy released the single, "For Tonight" which was first released in Canada, but once it was released in the United States, Atlantic Records had no problem signing Nancy to the label. The single peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart.
In the same year, Nancy released her second album, "Not the Girl Next Door" which peaked at #178 on the Billboard 200. In 1987, Nancy's second single from the album, "Move Out" peaked at #12 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart. Another single, "Can't Wait" peaked at #17 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart in 1988.
In 1989, Nancy released her third album, "Unpredictable." The album wasn't very successful and after that, Nancy focused on her music in Canada and had faded into obscurity in the United States.
Once Nancy was back in her hometown, she released two albums, "Nancy Martinez" in 1991 and "Porquoi Tu Pars?" in 1993. After releasing those albums, Nancy focused on background studio work and appeared on recordings of artists such as Celine Dion and Aldo Nova.

In 1998, Nancy released the album, "Bird's in the House." In 2004, Nancy released her first jazz album, "Downtown." In the same year, Nancy was featured on Canadian rapper K-Maro's single, "Femme Like U." In 2005, Nancy released her first concert album and in 2006, Nancy was featured on Canadian disc jockey MC Mario's single, "Not Guilty."
